Going to fit a new set of spark plugs to the SL55 and I have a question.
Do Mercedes use the same spark plugs for all the models?
Many thanks.

Take one out to have look, then you see what it is?
I did remove one to check, and all the dimensions are the same as the plugs that came out of my old SL500. I fitted 2 of the 500 plugs in without issue.
Looking on the Internet they seem to be much the same.

I changed my plugs in the SL April 2022. what i replaced was NGK PLKR7A 4288 spark plug platinum, with a Mercedes decal on it.
bought 8 from The green spark plug company £61.30 delivered. Slightly less than Mercedes cost without a decal.:)

The plug does need to be exactly the correct type. Physically the dimensions may be the same but if the plug runs hotter then you could put a hole in the piston. A cooler plug won't hole the piston but it may foul up.

NGK PLKR7A 4288 what was what was marked on the Mercedes plug. The ceramic had the Mercedes mark, the plug was marked NGK PLKR7A 4288.
I have had no over heating problem May 22 went on a road trip. France, Germany and Switzerland. May 24 road trip Spain & France.
Not a problem. Pay your cash make your choice.
Stuttgart gets enough cash off me running old Mercs

very much doubt it OP, plug gap and tolerance requirements of the plug. Most plugs look the same on the outside.
Play safe. Trip to the dealers.

Where did you order from eventually? I'm getting a misfire code on my CL55, so I'll also need to get 16 of the little b*****ds. And coil packs probably

I got them from Ebay.

Hope all goes well.

But I do think one should be careful ordering from eBay and other web shops. In my case, the spec is for non-resistor plugs. But many outlets list resistor plugs as compatible and this is simply not true. Yes, the plugs might work but they are NOT what MB specified.

For example, AutoDoc returns this against my car registration and the "FR" references are clearly for resistor plugs. Buyer beware.

They do have the same numbers and markings as the plugs removed.
But who knows.
All the history states 30k plug change. I bought the 55 at 94k, it's on 132k now and this is my first plug change. I'll keep you up dated.

It's easier than trying to look for other other 8, my neighbours Avanced Halford kit worked it's magic ;)
We complete the task in less than an hour.
The leads were the hardest to take off the plugs, pull these evenly helps.
