I have just had these alloys fitted to my 1998 CLK
http://www.alloywheels.com/product....des&Model=CLK W208&strSize=17"&searchSize=17"

They look great but the front wheel centre cap doesn't fit - it looks like the merc wheel hub is to big and the wolfrace cap just pops out (and snaps the lugs...)

Are there any other caps that I can use instead of the wolfrace ones?

Also there isn't a great deal of room between the hub and wheel to allow the cap lugs to fit..

Recently had a car in with these wheels, he had the same problem BUT he removed the bearing cap to get them to fit. Result............. very early wheelbearing failure. I think he returned to the wheel supplier to solve problem and to get them to sort it FOC, will let you know when he's back in.

Just been advised to remove the bearing cap by the wheel specialist... and he is sending some more alloy caps to replace my broken ones.

Not sure what to do now - whip the bearing caps off, pack with grease and replace the cap with the wolfrace or ????

Wish I had spotted that lot before I ordered my new alloys... I shall give them a call but I don't think their genuine caps will fit my non genuine wheels.

My local garage wasn't impressed with the idea of removing the bearing caps either. He suggests painting them black or silver and leaving them alone.

I believe that they have a correct mod or something, do speak to them

If i tell you that the guys wheel bearing failed within 10,000 miles of removing caps and at motorway speeds, dont do it, the grease will just spin out and water will do the rest.

Had the same problem myself. Got wheels from same place as yourself -Rochford (good company btw) but they didn't fit front. They were suggesting re-boring the wheel to fit and trying to source bigger caps but in the end took them back at no cost to me. Hope yours worked out ok.
