Hi,

Quite new to this forum and only had my merc (1999 C230K Sport) for about 2 months. Im looking for some AMG Monoblock alloys for my car. I have looked on ebay etc, and they are either too expensive (for a recent graduate!) only the rims (no tyres), or heavily damaged.

I have seen this company:

http://swtyres.co.uk/wheels/mercedes_prestige/a_line/silver

who do what i assume is a replica wheel which to be honest for me would suffice, and i have enquired about the price, which is very good, and they will be brand new rims, but im just wondering if anyone on here has had any wheels/services from there and what they are like etc.

Thanks in advance,

Rob

I had the same replica wheels on my C-class. It looked fantastic and the wheels were a fraction of the cost of AMG ones.
Of course you don't get the "AMG" stamp on the replicas but they still look brilliant.

I've just had a genuine set of 18" AMGs refurbished at Pristine (on my W210 E class). Cost £580. A bargain if you can get yourself a tatty set for a couple of hundred but be careful. Make sure they're not beyond repair.

Also be careful that the replicas are the correct offset for your car. The replicas are often a generic offset.

I recently bought replica 19" alloys and they were ET35 offset. I had to stagger the tyre sizes to get them to fit.

Thanks guys for the help. I would be looking to get staggered wheels anyway, as on the 202 AMG's they are staggered front - back. I assume this would be able to be done with replica wheels? (i.e. ordering a size up for the back?)

Yes you can get replicas with a staggered fitment. Normal widths are 8.5in fronts and 9.5in rears. As far as I'm aware, the tyre sizes would be 225(or 235 depending on the offset)/35s on the fronts and 265/30s on the rears (with a lower offset). These tyre profiles are for 19" so you will have to alter them for 18" wheels.

To help you decide the correct fitment, tyre size, offset and rolling radius (to maintain your gearing when you go up a size) check out this site:

http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html

It has calculators that allows you to input your current size and your new size and determine if they will fit or not. I used it when I bought 19" alloys for my CLK.

I have a set of factory fitted 17" AMGs on my C280 estate. The correct tyre size for these is 225/45x17 on the front and 245/40x17 on the rear so I think that 265s will be too wide for the rear. Not sure if it's an issue but the arches on my car were rolled by the factory also.
