Hi,
I recently got some new alloy wheels, and it turns out im not too keen on them. They are 16 x 7 x et35 with 225 x 50 x 16 tyres, which come off my 16 x 8 x et 34 8 hole alloys.
I still want to go back to an old fashioned look of the 15 hole flat faced alloys 15 x 7 x et44, which were on the 190E shape and the 300 SL 107, albeit with a lesser offset .
Can you tell me if 44mm off set is ok, the original setup would have been 15 x 7 x et41, will the 3mm make any difference ??

Many Thanks and Happy New Year

Tony

Many Thanks Malcolm for your reply,
i have the owners manual, which indicates that there are upto 46 mm offsets for the 7J x 16" rim, but 44mm offsets for the 6.5" x 15 " rim, but was unsure if the slightly greater offset (44mm )on a 7" X 15" rim would be ok.

Im still a bit unsure.

Thanks again

Tony

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
This set up would mean that the wheels sit in further by 3mm, and I do not think that this would make any difference

7" rims on late W124 estates use offsets between 41 and 42 mm. 6.5" rims used offsets between 44 and 49 mm. I'd expect the Saloons & Coupes to be the same

The 129 used similar-sized rims with a different offset so maybe these are 129 rims

I very much doubt that a 3 mm change will cause a problem if you use standard-sized tyres

Thanks Nick,
My Coupe is a Sportline model with (if standard wheels are fitted) would be 7" wide with et41 and thought that et44 would be ok but unsure. .
The 16x8xet34 were present when i bought the car, albeit looked good but not right.
I`ve seen sales literature circa 1995 with pictures of the flat face rims and i reckon they look good, but cant see et41 in this type of rim, 44 was the nearest.

Best Regards

Tony
