alloy wheels

I own a 1997 E300td avantgarde estate and the factory fitted alloy wheels are scabby. I have looked at cleaning kits in Halfords but they are not recommended for alloy wheels that are chromium plated and mine appear to be partially plated. I have only had this car for 1 month and the only car that I have owned previously fitted with alloy wheels was a Skoda and a can of silver spray paint did the job. Has anybody had this problem?

Err.. only everyone that has polished rim alloys.

Your only real option is to strip and repaint the laquer or to have the wheels refurbed.

Its as dieselman says......we used have same problem with polished engine casings on motorcycles.....strip and repolish required. Might be worth either getting a cheap set of steel wheels for a while so that you can leave the alloys plenty of time for refubishing.
