Alternative Free HPI Check

What kind of information can I expect to receive from a free alternative HPI check? Are there any limitations compared to paid services?

I paid £9.99 for a very comprehensive check on mine when I bought it that included all MOT dates and miles, insurance claims, use as a taxi or private hire and of course all the usual HPI stuff too.

For me, TotalCarCheck.co.uk is the best.. I probably use it at least once or twice every day (anorak!!).

I used the free version to check up interesting cars I see around the place and/or adverts.. if I am seriously considering purchasing a car, I pay for a full check.

The free version is effectively a concatenation of both the free DVLA services .. You get slightly more information like MOT results if you create a free account.

There are a few other little things it shows up, like previous adverts for the car by reg, if it has any on file. Note sometimes it get's a bit confused by private plates..

I used CarVertical once and will never use it again for 3 reasons:

1. My Range Rover came back as a ford ranger. (I complained, and they changed the report to reflect a Range Rover).
2. Back around the same time they said it was a blockchain company and reports utilised the power of blockchain so couldn't be faked. Proof here.. (Search for blockchain on the page) (Snapshot from Aug 13th, 2021) .... If that is the case, how in the hell were they able to change the make model on my RR Report.. and how was it wrong in the first place.
3. The checks are expensive..
