Alternator fixed - ALL OK - but ...

This is a new thread as it is another problem. I repaced the regulator on the alternator with a new one from Mercedes (47.09 pounds) and the warnings went off, everything is OK again, all electrics fine.

Except. The electric windows. They do not work properly. The switches for all of them have 5 positions: auto down - down - rest - up - auto up. Auto-down and Auto-up requires a deep press, two clicks of the switches. Simple up and down is a simple press , one click.

Now, on ALL 4 windows, the first click uop or down works OK. The second click does not. It sort of jumps and starts and stops.

Eventually the driver's window now works, but the rear window left still does not work on auto.

What gives?

They will require a reset

If you put all of the windows up one by one in key 2 and hold for 10 sec they will reset. if they dont,take off the battery wait 5 mins and try again. you can turn off the ESP lamp by turning the steering from lock to lock.

Aha! So not only the dashboard ABS+BAS needs to be reset but also the electric windows.... I will try tonight. If I understand it correctly you are saying I need to wind them down and then wind them up while the ignition key is on position 2?
