On tickover i notice that my headlights, not quite a flicker, but more of a pulsating dip in brightness, same with interior light. When i rev it seems to go away.

Thats OK, you could check the battery votage with the engine off and headlights on,much under 12.5 volt you can start saving for a new battery.

The alternator is OK as it brightens up when running.

I think that you must check the battery voltage as my earlier thread. I think that you have a cell going down on the battery.

Will get round to that in morning, everytime i get in this car i seem to find a different problem, probably are all there before but i'm just bit slow at picking up on them, latest one is that the engine tone actually runs in tandem with the pulsating lights, happens after about a minute after start up. Always starts first time on frosty mornings though.

i've put a new battery in and the flicking lights still kick in after a sudden increase in tickover about a minute after starting so im thinking alternator, but the sudden increase in tickover has got me,
