Hello all,

Hope your all doing good.

Sorry to be a pain but I’m after some advice please.

I have a Mercedes A class A220 2015 plate and I was driving home from work (NHS) on Monday and had a load of alarms come up on the dash. Parking brake (amber colour) ABS and skidding symbol inoperative and collision presentation assist plus inoperative and the engine management light on. The car didn’t seem to go into limp mode but the steering was a lot heavier.
I started it yesterday to go to work and all the lights had gone except the engine management light and it drive fine for 20 mins then all the lights came back on. Exactly the same when driving home after 20 odd mins. Took the car to the garage today at 8 told me to come back at 4 and they still hadn’t plugged it in!
The nearest MB specialist is 50 miles away! Is it safe to drive that far?

Any advice would be appreciated I really need the car for work. I have done a few bits and bobs with cars so hoping I might be able to rule stuff out myself.

Thanks for all help in advance

Hello
I’m going through something similar and it turned out to be a broken sensor on the wheel but mine broke the electrics on the ABS pump

Thanks for the reply.

Would you know which wheel the sensor is on?

Did you take it to an indy on specialist?

glad it’s all sorted for you

Jonathan, Thanks for your service in the NHS. Sorry you're having trouble with your car. I have no expertise to offer, someone better clued-up will post shortly. This is a very active & friendly forum. Mystery faults have all happened before, so good advice will follow.

Your profile doesn't say where you are. If you supply that information someone will surely be able to recommend an indie in your area.

A wheel speed sensor going down would be my first thought, but without a plug-in you are shooting in the dark. Whereabouts are you? Many of our independent specialists are open for key workers.

Yes I went to a MB specialist but still not sorted
I’m waiting for the car to be coded to the new ABS module
You need to get it plugged in and if it’s the sensor it will tell you which wheel the fault is on

Thanks everyone for the reply’s.

I’m based in Llanelli, Wales. The garage have plugged it in but say there is a load of faults coming up so they aren’t sure what it is. He has cleaned the passenger wheel for dust which he thinks might be causing it but I can’t see it.

When I put the car in park the handbrake isn’t automatically coming on like it used to I have to manually press the button.

thanks everyone for the help
