Just noticed that my ambient lighting has stopped working in the passenger footwell on my W205.
Thinking it might be a loose connection I removed the kick panel; removed one single Torx 20 screw and three clips.
I found a 3 core cable leading from the light itself to the wiring loom but no obvious loose connectors.

Anybody else had this problem? All the other lights are working ok.

Wait until it’s dark and check it again . They don’t work in daylight
Edit , just noticed it’s only the one footwell . maybe swap a bulb over to check when it’s dark ?

Thanks Wighty, I will try Mercs for a few spares.
I meant swap the bulb from a working footwell light to check it . Doors open/closed and or daylight can affect them

@Wighty , Unfortunately not quite that simple; just got back from Mercs who gave me a parts printout of the dash/instrument panel.

The part in the centre of the kick panel with the 3 core cable about 4cm x 5cm is in fact a temperature sensor, not a bulb.

The illumination comes from an LED fibre optic cable that runs around the kick panel.

Apologies for reviving this, what was the fix?

I currently have no ambient lights everywhere apart from the front passenger door panel. This is the 64 colour lighting

During the 'A' or 'B' service the kick panel in the passenger footwell has to be removed to replace the cabin filter. To access this filter the ambient light was unplugged; so it was a very simple fix to reconnect the plug.

PS: Avoid the main dealers, when I approached my main dealer asking them to fix it there was lots of sucking of teeth and chin scratching from the service dept who eventually said it would be necessary to book the car in and hook it up for diagnostics...I told them I would give it a miss and took it to my indie who reconnected the plug in less than 5 minutes FOC.

I had a 2019 E Coupe where some of the ambient lighting stopped working, removing the fuse for a while then replacing it sorted the issue completely.

I cannot remember fuse number but there is usually some paperwork with a fuse location diagram in the car.

Thank you both. That helps. The ambient lighting magically started working this morning. Wondering if it is a battery issue so will get that tested soon

Had this exact issue, after I had a service last year, did some research on the net, and found this could be the issue, couldn’t be bothered to go back to the dealer, so had a go myself, and yep found that the connector wasn’t refitted, after cabin filter had been changed.

Hi All, new to Mercedes family 2017 gls250d, amg premium. I didn't notice the ambient light not working passenger footwell until it went dark after i got car home. Ive read to check fuse 417 unplug and replace which ill do when i get home after work. the other one is during B service passenger kick panel gets removed and connector maybe unplugged, what does this connector look like is it obviously visible when you remove the panel? any pics knocking round for connector . seen vid on cabin filter replacement and that shows air con sensor and foot well light connector but not ambient light connector.
cheers

Remove the kick panel in the passenger footwell (a couple of Torx screws). When the main dealer replaced the cabin filter during the 'B' service they disconnected the ambient light plug and forgot to re-connect it, which happened to me twice. Just re-connect.
