I found this video interesting from an auto engine salvage guy - what happens when a piston lets go on this engine

That survived amazingly well given what happened!
I've seen engines with fist sized holes in the side from that kind of cause.

One bank was fine, very repairable, cut the damaged bank out and have a slant 4

I think it’s why the M156 was so well respected when it was introduced and used on so many different platforms, originally designed as a race engine I believe
