AMG Mk 4 alloy wheel paint

Hi All,

Does anyone know what type/colour or code of paint that AMG use to paint their alloy wheels? It is so much lighter than any other silver paint that any refurb shops offer.

Confused?? Any refurb shop should be able to match the colour exactly. If they can't, they shouldn't be doing the job.

To be truthful I do not think that these special wheel paints are listed.The chrome Paint on my V70R is impossible to match up, more and more wheels are now going over to these types of paint.

It is not just a matter of copying the colour,the pigments are not stocked on the mixing machines. Many wheel re furburb outlets state that they will get as near as possible if the manufacture will not give details.

We use Lepsons in Kent. I don't recall them having any problems & their "lacquer over alloy" finish lasts better than originals.

I noticed the trend now at MB world is to go towards paint rather than the diamond finnish that does not last long, some of the newer chrome paints look just as nice without all of the aggro.

Thanks for your reply gents. Malcolm as usual you are right! My local paint shop supply outlet said it was impossible to match, as a special process is required!

We use sparkle silver Du Pont (lacuer over base coat) and bake it, it looks the dogs when finished. But like every thing it's what you put into the prep job.
