Amplifier help needed

I current have the harman becker amp In my c250 however it got water damaged... looking online they are extortionate to replace. Second hand ones concern me to pay if if they arrive broken... Does anyone know if there is another make/model that would fit and work?.

unless someone here has personally gone through the pain I don't think we can help much.

not all amps are created equal - on some its an integral element of other features on the car too, so resetting the clock and or the heater buttons are part of the work / control set up of the fitment on a given car

to get that to work many Amp are unique to a car or at least the configuration is unique to the car.... (not locked an individual car, but designed to function only in that type of car - although antitheft measures / make owners only able to buy new is becoming more common too....)

this leads to three normal avenues and one possible

1) buy new
2) buy second hand and hope (only get one from someone offering returns and a short guarantee)
3) try and repair (but electronics like this are not such an easy fix) - if you find LOTS of places and cheap prices then its a possibility, if its one guy promising he can - they usually can't
4) with clear knowledge - I have no clue on your vehicle - that its not going to stop other stuff for working or being used, try a different idea / aftermarket garbage

where in the world are you? - although seemingly not the cheapest but sensible and often the simplest and most pain free fix is to contact comandonline at lightwater surrey who specialise on sorting in car entertainment fun and retrofitting upgraded interior toys on Mercs
