Just completed 100,000 miles today.Rather pleased.Car is now 5 1/2 years old.W210 E220 Cdi Estate Auto.

Problems;2 EIS, Renewed pixcels in dashboard display--all under warranty.

Replaced one glowplug, one headlamp bulb and one number plate bulb.Rear wash/wipe kaput--think its the relay in the rear hood.

Benefits;50 mpg over last 3750 miles and a minimum of 50 mpg during trips of at least 50 miles---both according to computer.Uses no oil between services. No sign of dreaded rust.Cruises at 70 mph plus (on continent) in total silence.

On third set of tyres, original everything else.

It is a pleasure to drive every day and I consider myself to be one fortunate guy.

And still getting better to drive by the mile I'd imagine.
You must be particularly gentle to get 50mpg and eak over 30k out of a set of tyres though.

You get a good Merc, there is nothing that can touch it, enjoy the next 100k.

Thanks,JB.
Funny you should say that as it does seem to be looser, quieter and more economical as more miles have been covered.
I was brought up on the "Mobil economy run" and always try to achieve good mileage (always min of 580 from tank).
Used to get 50,00 from the Michelin cross plys on the Beetle,so 32,000 is mildly disappointing.
All in all I am quite thrilled with it.Back to Spain on 3 September and will go from Wirral to Axarqia (1700 miles in 4 gentle days) on 2 1/2 tanks of diesel---not quite Ryanair economy but still perfectly accepable.

Regards
JP

I remember when Safer Motoring

had the 100,000 club for VWs that hit the century. It was worthy of remark back then, but we don't even think twice of such mileages now. I had 190,000 out of my old Beemer and it still ran like a fine swiss watch.
