Android unit

Hello forum. I own a GL350 2011 and I would like to update the radio/ CD player in the car to an android unit. Some have facilities to connect thd reversing camera so my question is a simple one. Does anyone know a make of an android unit that has the reverse camera function?

Hi, I fitted an Android head unit to my W204 C-class in June 2022. It was a no-name Chinese job running Android 10 and that had a reversing camera function (and a free dash cam and reversing camera). Although I never fitted the camera, whenever I selected reverse the screen showed me the typical grid line pattern that followed the steering wheel movements. I would suggest taking a look at iceboxauto.com for inspiration and then find something similar on either eBay or Amazon. Whatever you decide to get go for the most memory/internal storage/fastest processor you can afford.

In a W212. I opted for a bigger screen after there was an issue with the smaller screen. It really does bring the interior up to date. I mainly use it for Waze, Twitter - when stuck in traffic and internet radio. I opted to keep the factory bluetooth functional in preference to Carplay as you cannot have both at the same time ( unless I'm mistaken). I also have a data sim inserted so I'm not relying on the connection to my phone for data.
I have found the music quality via streaming apps is not as good as factory with the bass becoming very distorted with some content so I tend to listen to factory DAB when reception is available. Again, I'm not sure if i have the settings correct - I'm currently in the process of factory resetting and starting again due to an issue I have.

The supplier has been great - very responsive and swapped out the first unit with no hesitation and offer a 2yr warranty.

It took an effort to install - mainly fitting the loom back behind the unit, but it's fairly straightforward otherwise.

I also fitted their reverse camera which replaced the existing faulty camera and it works as expected. You may have to enable this function within command if available
