Due to the success of the last UK Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts gathering, the next event will be a SUMMER BBQ to be held in Maidenhead, Berkshire, on Saturday 27th July 2002.

Many people suggested the summer BBQ idea at the Cotswolds meeting, and after some planning and consideration, it seems viable to hold this event.

The BBQ will only go ahead if we can reach 30 people attending, at a cost of £15 per person. This will include as much as you can eat and drink, and many Mercedes vehicles to admire! I can recommend hotel accommodation on request, depending on your price range.
Should you require a hotel, your Mercedes can be left securely overnight ready for collection the next day.

Please let me know either by e-mail, or telephone on 01628 438740 at your earliest convenience if you wish to attend, and how many people (the more the better!). Finances will be sorted nearer the event.

Unfortunately for me, the event will be held at my place, where there is lots of room for the cars to be near to us, together with the BBQ?s, tables and chairs and the Marquees. Hopefully in attendance will be the local MB dealer, showing off some of their new models.

I hope you can join us, and make this event even better than the last, which was a great success. PLEASE feel free to contact me for any more information. More information will be distributed nearer the time anyway.

However, PLEASE CONFIRM YOU PLACE NOW, as places are limited to 80 people.

More information will be at http://www.poundhost.com/mbsummer

Look forward to seeing you!!

Take care, and best regards,

Matthew.

Bump!

Also, please note this is nothing to do with MBOA, nor was the last Mercedes Gathering that featured in the MBOA magazine, which was also organised by myself.

Best regards, Matt.

At the dangeer of putting my head over the parapet - Am I missing something?
The mag I have in front of me says that the last GTG was "organised by regulars of the mercedes-benz owners association forum".
Now while I'm not a great MBOA fan at the moment either, - I thought that was correct.
The only thing I can see them being guilty of is the picture usage without a credit, which I'm sure they would have done in the next magazine if asked, instead of all this daftness. Maybe some chill pills and a bit of the old common would have been a better reaction. :)

I'm sure I will be corrected if I am wrong...
The reason why some people are "miffed" more than people think is because the main organisers of the GTG in April are regulars of other forums, yes they post here at MBOA but I think they would class themselves as being more regs of other MB forums (which I shall refrain from naming). It was only because of their kind foresight to post invites to the GTG on all the major MB forums, which include MBOA, that regulars of this board  (myself included) got the chance to attend the event. So I believe, they would view the write up as being poetic licence when quote "organised by regulars of the mercedes-benz owners association forum".

Anyways, the above is just my view on the said "fuss" and I'll shall say no more on the matter.

Stu, you got any more of those chill pills? ;) Hand 'em around   and beam some good Karma this way.

S.

p.s. I read most of the MB dedicated forums on the web but only really post on the UK orientated ones (inc MBOA of course), you can never have too many MB dedicated forums ;)

Hi

I still don't see what the hassle is about. If they post here they are members of this forum. Then by the same intermation it was a  MBOA GTG. I thought the people at Birdlip were from the MBOA forum.

Anyway I thought most of you wern't coming back. Don't get me wrong. I for one am glad to see you here on what I still maintain easiest forum to get round.

Don't worry I been looking at the competition. But there is not much happening at the moment. I have no doubt I will sign in sooner or later.

Regards to one and all

Andy,

Heh I'm a MB fanboy so I'll post on any UK MB forum that'll have me  I can't speak for the others but I'll be here and elsewhere. It's a shame that the official MB UK site doesn't run a forum too imho, 'cos I'd be on that too ;) .

Anyways as Vic Reeves would say "I'm gonna let it lie" and say no more

S.

Hi Chaps,

Regarding the last meeting and the article in the MBOA mag, which doesn?t really bother me to be honest; I also found it a bit peculiar that they said it was organised by the ?MBOA forum regulars?, when the thing was organised by myself, and I had never heard of MBOA at the time, until koolvin told me about this forum, via my ?regular? forum at www.mbnz.org

As I say, doesn?t bother me, so it would seem MBOA were either incorrectly informed about our GTG, fair enough, no problem, or they wanted to make it sound as if it started life here at MBOA for the websites publicity sake.

Either way, I?m not a ?regular? of the MBOA forum :)
Enough of my ramebling for today!!

PS. The organisation of the Cotswold meeting cost about £85, and should the meeting be used to help publicise the MBOA website, then I?ll be happy for them to credit me!!
