Howdy all!,

In the restore of my 90 560SEL, I recently came across an annoyance. I dont like the lookof the US spec headlights that came on the 126, with the separated fog light and headlight, so I ordered a set of Bosch headlight 126 buckets from Germany, took almost 3 months to get here. (i ordered them regular post to try to save costs on shipping).

Well, I try to install them today. Theyre the lights with the solid sheet of glass covering both light lenses.

Everything goes well, they bolt in fine....untill I go to connect the power. The flipping connectors on the buckets are 5 pins.....my cars wiring system is only 4 pin.

So now im contemplating going to a wrecker, finding a set of U.S spec headlight buckets, ripping out the wiring harness and putting them into the euro lights that I bought in order to get around the connect pin problem. Im not sure if its going to work but I paid almost 400$ canadian for the set, and I really dont want to give up unless I have to. I could get the U.S buckets from the wrecker to be cannabalized for about 10$.

Opinions?

Isnt the lights you have fitted at the moment law where you are, designed so that if you hit a person theres less glass to break so less risk the person you hit wont get cut.
Not that it makes a difference 2.5 tonnes of mercedes hitting someone is more worrying than opps be careful of the headlamp glass it might cut me.

Im heading to the wrecker's this weekend to see if i can locate a used set of buckets with good wiring. >.>

You need to check your wiring loom for each operation on there, main beam, dipped beam, side lamp, fog lamp, and check which one is missing from the headlamp connections..It may be an indicator that is located elsewhere...u guys have running lamps ??

My particular car doesnt have running lamps, as its from Texas and apparently at the time running lamps were not required there. Here in canada they are law on any vehicle 2005 or newer i think. So my car kinda dodges that one.
