Another Air bag prob

Ok doky here goes................

I had to replace the full beam switch recently on my 1998 E300TD W210 and therefore had to remove the steering wheel and, of course, air bag. I had the ignition on whilst the air bag was disconnected ( it was a yellow connector ) so fully expected the SRS light on reconnecting.

I have a friend who owns a small garage and has the relevant electroc dignostics kit and asked him to reset the SRS light. He was unable to do this as it showed the fault "DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG INGITION CIRCUIT" and wouldn't let him over-ride this. I had a look in all three fuseboxes and can't see a fuse ( my first thought was that maybe I had tripped a fuse in all my shenannigans ), does anyone know how I can sort this short of taking it to a dealer ?

Thanks in advance

I would undo the battery and re connect to see if it clears it

Thanks

Thanks Malcom, I'll give that a try tomorrow if the blooming rain goes off !!!

I also noticed that the glow plug warning light is coming on intermittently(sp???) - goes off at start up as normal, then comes back on for a while then goes off again. Never had electrical probs before I took the air bag off....you can resist a play though when these things are so well built, it's a joy to meddle.

Maybe disconnecting the battery will just clear the electrical system of any wee glitches.

If the glow plug light comes back on after start up then it is indicating that one (or more) of the glow plugs has failed. I would recommend getting the failed one(s) changed soonest.

Thanks BC, is there a way of checking the plugs individually or would I be better to replace all of them at the same time anyway ??

You can test them with an ohmmeter
