Another Comand Question!

Hi all

Can any Sat Nav expert out there help me with a slight problem that I've got with a Comand system which has just been retro fitted into a W211 E Class. The mapping works a treat and I'd recomend them to anyone who hasn't yet taken the plunge but on mine the buttons don't light up when the headlights are on which makes using it at night a touch awkward. In fairness the Comand has not yet been linked to the car with star diagnosis - I know it should be - and it will be - but not for a month or so but this shouldn't stop the buttons lighting up should it or have the bulbs gone in the headset and how do I fix it. Anybody come across this one before

Don,t quote me on this but I think the command only has one power supply which is permanent 12v. All the other supplys ie term.15 ignition supply and illumination are switched internally in the command, these are activated on receiving the appropriate can data signal at the head unit. Unless the can data message is received especially in the case of the terminal 15 the command may shuts down after 30 minutes use because it thinks the ignition is not on, this is what happened to me when i tried to fit a c class command to my 190e in the end i gave up. Once you have programmed it with the star machine you may find it will work. On my 190 i had no chance as the car did not use a can system.
