I had 17“ wheels on my W211 and W213, much more comfortable , no cracked alloys in ~150k miles and cheaper tyres.I've another cracked 19" alloy seriously fed up with them. Has anyone else switched them out to 17"s?
Thanks
It’s what I’ve done for years (well at least since I’ve been paying for my cars...)Straddling speed humps can crack rims. All the weight of that corner goes on the unsupported inner rim.
You should always aim to get one wheel between the humps and one wheel straight over the top.
You can get more paving slabs in company cars as well.......It’s what I’ve done for years (well at least since I’ve been paying for my cars...)
I wince watching cars going at speed over the middle with all the weight on the inner edge.
I’ve absolutely no idea what you mean...You can get more paving slabs in company cars as well.......
The pot holes at the moment are getting seriously insane, they are not pot holes but mini craters. Never seen it this bad before.
The bullish!t tarmac patches only last 2 days before they fall apart again.
Even more reason to buy a chunky Toyota Land Cruiser.

You did well to get them to mix it in a wheel barrow first, the ones around here just cut the bag open and then dump it in the holeWith you on the repair strategy, mix tarmac up in wheelbarrow and in between traffic throw the shovel full into the pothole.............Believe me I have seen it done outside Guyhirn Shell Though give them credit, not one car would have been hit!
Traction control off then...Not had any cracks lately.
The SL55 developed a crack but I had that welded, the welder told me to zig zag down the road in future!
Blimey, it works
I’d say yes, but would try one first.... I fitted 16” steel winter wheels to my VW with the larger discs and callipers, no issues. Thanks for the repy. Would going to 17"s fit over the disc and caliper though as there's lots of sets for sale around £300 including tyres
Oh and they then use the van their in to squash it down, and they wonder why it only lasted a few weeks until it was all out againYou did well to get them to mix it in a wheel barrow first, the ones around here just cut the bag open and then dump it in the hole
