THis is all part of a silly game where they waste money trying to outdo each other on performance by building cars hardly anyone buys and losing money on them all. The SLR Maclaren beastie only sold 1000 and must have cost a small fortune to develop and build. All manufactures can now build performance way beyond what any of us can use. If they don't know how they can easily buy the people who can show them. So long as grown men go on being silly little boys and impressed by big wheels, low profile tyres, go faster stripes, and multiple exhaust pipes all as big as an elephants ass, car makers will go on adding a few more useless horsepower to show that they are king of the ring. Totally daft.

I can see that you are happy with your S class from the above, all companies use the R & D section to off set their tax bill with these projects, though many of the cars are never built in production terms the research does produce safer cars for the future and inovation
