Another sill question

Everyone refers to W210, W124, W219 etc. - what does this refer to?
I have E240 Avantgarde and 230 SLK what references would these have?
Is it to do with chassis numbers?

Your E 240 could be a 210 or 211 and your 230SLK should be a SLK230 and would be a 170

These numbers are at the bottom center on the window screen and refer to the group of cars that the cars belong to and are the three first numbers of your chassis number.
