After a while I got to like the colour, and even had a yellow car for a while

I'm a bit deaf, did you say "Triumph sports car" or Sports bra"? :)

I have a '95 Speed Triple, started out orange and currently black.
A friend had A TT600 in yellow as a stop gap for his stolen Ninja and he kept it for work as he was knocked off the replacement Ninja by a dog chasing him. I used to do a lot of his repairs and servicing, he grew to like the TT600 as it saved him so much money commuting.
Watch the rear plastics, I had the right sidepanel literall explode on me trying to save the bike from falling over. Alternator and regulator were a problem but the rest was almost bulletproof.

I'll admit to the Spitfire, and keep quiet about your suggestions!

I've had the TT since (almost) new. It was pre-reg to Triumph and had 15 miles on the clock when I picked it up. I have managed to crack the main fairing by dropping it when pushing it, I slipped on some ice and couldn't hold it upright, but the repair isn't too noticeable.
Starting to have problems with it when hot, so I need to check what's causing that, I suspect a leaking vacuum hose. I've had the R/R and Stator problem and have replaced those upgraded the reg/rec to a Mosfet one. For what it's worth on the second hand market, almost nothing, it's too good to sell, so I'll be keeping it a while longer.

New rear hoop - Trying the new Anakee Road, hopefully it will last >4,000 miles…:eek:

Good thing about a GSA is how easy it is to remove the rear wheel - 5x T50 torx bolts and it’s off, no messing with chains, brakes or wheel tensioners. Don’t even need to remove the rear mudguard (although I did (3 x T30) to make it easier and to give it a clean.

Try the comparison sites, then Bennett’s and Carole Nash. Devitt did me for the GSA again this year, renewal wasn’t great but better than anything I could find :(

Just called Devitt and got a new policy which is about £90 less than what I paid MCE last year! I should have shopped around but time is precious!

Emailed MCE to send me proof of my NCB and shared the policy details with Devitt.

They were the only ones comparative on my R1250GSA - and only at renewal - did a new policy quote and that was ~£200 more

I couldn’t get a comparison quote for <£500 (without a crazy £2,500 deductible) some wanted £2,400 as a premium!

Paying £370 which is £70 more than last year

Just obtained my policy documents from mce (phew!).

I won’t be going with Devitt again seems bit pricey and they don’t shut up on the phone - i mean, quote me, take my money and do one! I should have shopped around but I just don’t have time. 2025 I will!

Took my GSA for its first MOT - tried a 1300GS whilst mine was getting tested. Much smaller and lighter than mine - more powerful but not as big a difference as I was expecting. Won’t be changing yet, 1300GSA out in September will try one of those then.

Had a run up to Scotchland on the weekend - quite cold… but heated seat, grips and vest made it pleasant.

Roads pretty rough and my friend hit a big pothole at speed :( pressure dropped over ~an hour - (very good sensors in the wheels).

IMG_5690.jpeg

Sunday morning I managed to knock it back mostly to shape and once pumped up it didn’t lose pressure. Did another ~200 mile run back over the moors and no loss of air. Will be investigating repair options this week.

Gave them both a good wash/rinse off then covered in WD40 and ACF50 as they were caked in salt and mud.

VW Scirocco. The Quattro, E350 CDi Blue Efficiency Sport Coupe, now both gone
It was with much sadness that I had to trade in my FJR1300 and my GSX650F as, after two incidents, I found out that I was no longer fit enough or able to lift either of them, after dropping the GSX, getting it out of my garage. Luckily a neighbour was walking past when this happened and he kindly helped me get it back off the ground but, not until I had slipped a disc in my back trying to get it myself.

About two months later my back was almost back to normal again when I had a moment with the FJR and just managed to rescue it before having another disaster. Unfortunately I knackered my back, again!

So, after much gnashing of teeth, it was decided to trade them in for a much lighter bike, one Yamaha Tracer 900 ABS.

The FJR and the GSX two of my favourite bikes.

Until I got this, the Tracer,
IMG_6177b.jpg

The FJR weighed in at 300KG and the GSX at 250KG. Not exactly light weights, I could manage them fine out on the road but, maneuvering them out of my garage had become increasingly difficulty mainly because of the slope I had to negotiate while reversing them out.

See this getting old it's an absolute pain in the posterior!

The Tracer weighs in at 210KG, wow! what a difference, I can now do a 7 point turn in the garage and ride it out if I want to, but it's not necessary because by comparison it feels like a push bike compared to the other two. I can push it right up the slope with almost no effort, it's faster, lighter and an absolute joy to ride. Best move I ever made.
