I'm looking for a polisher for doing a bit of paint restoration (non merc) nothing professional, mid range. I've a two handed orbital polisher but it's too big to get into the smaller areas, I've seen a lot of smaller ones about 1200W with a long handle and smaller head on ebay etc. for around £40.
Anyone with any experience of such machines?

I’m not sure what you mean by two handled , unless it’s one of those large round things that Halfords used to sell .
I’ve got a DAS 6 pro , which you can see on the website www.cleanyourcar.co.uk .
Its a dual action polisher which is more forgiving than rotary polishers , you can buy smaller heads for them but I’m not exactly sure how small they go .

Didn`t know an EV needed a different polisher to an ICE vehicle , something to do with a build up of static perhaps ?

I have a Das pro 6 and find it works well.

Pop to a scrappie, buy an old boot lid and have a practice on that.. note what pad, compound you use and then set about yours..

Or the wife's car...
That's the car I'm doing:eek::eek: when I've finished painting 11 windows and two doors downstairs. It's supposed to be a reward:confused:
Wighty is up to his knees in patio digging and I'm up to my elbows in paint:rolleyes:

Practice on the wife first, think of it as exfoliation and skin resurfacing quite expensive in beauty clinics.

Bought when it was £40, sorry it is now £50, but still does the job and after researching this one I thought it seemed like the best bang for buck.

Comes with the added benefit of a High St warranty and return in the event of problems, not that I have had any. However, trying to get a refund on item from ebay bought a few months back can be a thoroughly unpleasant experience.

Thanks for that but not in the position to buy from Argos but just got some polishers off Amazon for €30.
Just a set of adapters, heads and sponges so no DA on a cordless drill but tried it yesterday and the middle hardness sponge is doing a good job, so depending on how inspired I am after finishing I may look for a proper DA tool.

P.S. If you, or anyone else decides to buy the Argos one above, I strongly recommend you get a cheap set of ear defenders as well. Being up close to the unit whilst in operation it is exceptionally loud. If I said it was the loudest thing I have ever heard, I might not be over-egging it. I tried using it without ear protection and felt quite disoriented after only a few minutes.
