MB E350CDI 2012
Hello everyone! Hope you are having a good day!

I own MB E350CDI 2012 coupe for 1 year. Very satisfied with it, enough power ( low fuel consumption) , enjoyable driving. Mileage is 260k km, feels its time for something with less driven miles/km and probably with 4 doors (family reasons).

Budget +/- 25k Euros. Was looking through car market - newer CLS is more expensive, hard to find something. Although it will be a family car, I would not want to lose power as I also use it for longer rides alone ( work). Have no experience with C class or CLA, feels smaller. Could I ask for your knowledge and guidance? Fuel consumption, depreciation rate and maintenance cost is also important.

Now I am considering MB C-300, -400, CLA 45AMG, CLS350 and E-400. Its possible to get very fresh CLA 45 AMG for 25k-30k.
Will appreciate your help!

Hello and welcome,

Once you've had an E it's difficult to go to something else - I'd get an E-Class saloon preferably in petrol or pre-Euro 6 diesel (depending upon mileage and where you're driving)

CLA is front wheel drive (or 4 wheel drive in some variants) and very different to a C or an E - I'd take one for an extended drive before commiting

I went from a C207 to a GLC and am very happy with my choice. They only do a 2 litre diesel but I can totally recommend the GLC43 AMG

I went from an E350 CDi Coupe (which I loved) to a CLS 350d (which I love). Feels bigger and not as sporty although there is plenty of power if you need it. For me, having 4-doors and a more luxurious interior makes driving it a real pleasure.

Only downside to a CLS 4 door is the 2 rear seats, you think you can get away with it but, if it’s your only or main car then it will most likely become an issue. Easily solved by the shooting brake version, which also in my eyes lends itself better to the styling of the CLS.

I've not sat in a CLA, but I have been in an A - and it was quite tight for space inside. Two average guys in the front seats were brushing elbows.

My Daughter has an A Class and I have sat in the front with my son-in-law and didn’t notice that and he is a big ex-military guy :)

To be fair, I am remembering a couple of hours in a car 4 years ago. So perhaps my impression was misleading. I'd still rather be in an E-Class...
