I've done a search on this indy and seen the name mentioned a couple of times. I was wondering if any members had actually used the garage themselves as I live fairly close by and it might be more convenient than where I work in Bristol.

Cheers,

Did you have any luck?

I'm thinking of taking my 2.5-16 there as it's frustrating me.

Stopped there once and chatted to the guy as he had a 2.3-16 outside. He seemed friendly enough which is a good start.

No, I never used him in the end. I had a couple of quotes and he was a little vague on the price. When pushed the figures he gave were higher then I'd been quoted elsewhere. And, as I hadn't had any response from anyone who had used him I was unsure whether to go there.

As there seem to be very few highly recommended indy's in Wiltshire where I live or Bristol where I work, I now travel up to Ian B Walker at 124 Works for my servicing, etc

It's a fair old trek, but based upon the many recommendations on this and another forum, I decided to give him a try. I haven't been disappointed! His work is to a very high standard and he offers good value for money.

For example, I recently took my car to an indy I'd used in years gone by in Bristol for its MOT. Ian had checked the car over during some servicing a couple of months earlier and gave it a clean bill of health. Though he did point out the front ARB bushes would need doing soon.

The Bristol indy subs out his MOT's. Anyway, he came back with a list of things that he costed to £5-600! I was astounded. I spoke to Ian who was also dumbfounded and said if I could bring the car up to him, he would use the guy locally who is very honest and fair with MOT's. Low and behold the car passed first time with no advisories!!

I asked Ian to change the ARB bushes he'd pointed out before and also the brake fluid while I was there.

If I had been an unsuspecting punter I would now be a lot worse off. So, thanks once again to Ian at 124 Works.

Thanks for your post and this does show the importance of a recommendation.

Though not that near Bristol MBS in Exeter is a first class guy for most of the earlier models

I should really add that a trip to Ian is always worth while, as is the trip to Black in Portsmouth
