Yes, I've used them for a replacement engine and some servicing.

Some previous reports have been mixed (you can search the forum for Dronsfields). When I used them their customer service was not the best. Almost as if they were too busy and had too much business. It was sometimes difficult getting through, or getting anyone to call back.

They said they had a guaranteed 55,000 mile 2.6 engine about still in a car, and when I turned up it was at another local site, but I couldn't see it still in the car.

But, I bought the engine and had them fit it. The quality of the engine change seemed very good. They asked me to come back after 100 miles for a second oil change and fixed a timing cover oil leak. The engine has been fine so far, although I still wonder about whether it is a 55k engine (1.2 bar hot oil pressure and leaking head gasket at the back of the engine).

Their place is interesting. A lot of accident damaged cars go through there, and they have a lot of Mercedes just piled on top of one another and rooms full of every concievable part. They ship off a lot of main components in large containers around the world - and probably make quite a lot of money in the process.

I have used Dronsfieldand was not overly impressed. Although the service was excellent (the parts came the next day) they sent me the wrong part even after I queried it with them before it was sent.

If there's lots of variations on the same model I wouldn't risk using them

Oh well, I placed an order for three parts which in the return e-mail they quoted and priced seperately (the prices seem decent to me). The parts in question are not easily confused for something similair.

So I'm going to buy from them.

Mike.

Well Mike

Good Luck is all I can say. I thought the same, I wanted a downpipe for my estate and they offered me a saloon one. I even asked if they were the same I was assured they were. - NOT!

Shysters of the first water. ****ed me around for TWO MONTHS having said they would send me the parts I ordered within days. When I eventually lost the plot the stuff miraculously appeared a couple of days later, but was so badly packed and such a load of crap that I sent it straight back. They basically got an interest-free loan from me for eight or nine weeks, as they clearly never had the bits they made me pay for up front in the first place. Waste of time.
