does anyone know if by putting the car on four axle stands would it be classed as off road and therefore safe from having no tax silly question i know but i really dont want to lose the car for having no tax any ideas

coz the way i see it if the car isnt touching the ground it dosent count as taxable any nice police officers out there feel free to comment lol

SLK's 2, CLK320 Cabriolet.
As long as you have posted the vehicle as SORN with the DVLA it is irrelevant where or how it's placed.

If its on the public highway, on axle stands or not, its still on the public highway!

My mate once had his wheels nicked off his car that was parked on the road outside his house. The thieves left it on stands and bricks. When the police came to get the details of the theft from my mate they advised him to remove it off the road as they would have to book him for having a vehicle on the road in a dangerous condition !!!

You used to be able to get away with parking tickets with a bike by sticking it on the path on its centre stand and a bit of wood cos the tickets were worded "wheels on pavement" thats long gone now. Car has to be on private property (with no public access, supermarket car parks dont count as private even if they are for example) AND SORN now to be legal without tax on it.
