Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to run some diagnostics on my W202 (clunky gearbox change), and I have neither the ODB2 adapter cable or the Xentry system. Is anyone in the Hampshire area that wouldn't mind scanning my car? I will pay in beer/wine/gin :)

Cheers,

Andy

Does yours have the 38 pin round connector or the OBD2 port?

I'm guessing the former.....

Yeah it is the 38 pin under the bonnet. Thanks!

Ok in that case a standard OBD2 code reader won't work. You'll need something that can talk to that connector properly such as Star or Carsoft (not iCarsoft).

Does carsoft have the same low level access as Star? Star only seems available from some pretty sketchy Chinese outfits, I guess I could try carsoft.

It's not as comprehensive as Star as it's only a reader but it will give things like fill times and live data for the gearbox.
I presume this is a 5 speed? If it's a 4 speed then it's hydraulic only and won't have an ECU.

Might be worth doing a VIN decode to get the exact gearbox model.

I live up the M3 near Hook and have a STAR laptop and a c3 multiplexer.. if that's any use?

I have a few cables for it. One might be the round one

That would be perfect if you have the cable and the time?

I'd be reasonably sure it's the big silver one.

Horndean is possibly not that far from Winchester, and you have Olly at PCS and Cole at MBS to choose between!

The big silver one is the one!

The car is bogging down so badly now I can't even drive it. It seems to be a throttle position issue (the MAF is brand new). Hopefully I can get it driving today.

Now that’s a nice drive on a nice peaceful day, roof down and some good music, especially the road from Petersfield to Petworth and still nice to Billingshurst.

I used to drive that road a lot, unfortunately in an Astra with ladders on the roof. The music was okay though

I would love to! Sadly the car isn't even running at the moment. So I might have to pay someone to come out.
