Anyone tried putting coloured bulbs in dash or center illuminations

Would like to give the old girl some zippy illumination whe driving at night & was wondering if anyone has tried using coloured bulbs in place of the normal clear miniature bulbs that light up the 'clocks' / centre console area + switches & perhaps the headlamp switch surround illumination.

I know where to get blue painted type - from Volvo for around 80-90p each.

Anyone got any suggestions & where to get other colours like red.

Am awaiting a Europarts magazine to see if they list any.
