- GLC Coupe/2018/2000CC
Hi everyone,
Firstly, I am a new member and feel bad that my first post is this one! Secondly, apologies if my post is too long, I just want to make sure that I share all my experience so far so that maybe someone with a similar experience may help me with their suggestions as I am not sure what to do at this stage.
I recently purchased a 2018 GLC Coupe from Mercedes Bishop's Stratford, which is a Mercedes dealership, hence the car was "Approved Use". I've actually paid a little more to have a piece of mind as I trusted the approved use concept. That is actually the reason that I was not very thorough while I was inspecting the car (and obviously I was excited to have an amazing car ). I read the service report of Mercedes Bishop's Stratford garage and they did all necessary checks and they ticked everything (so I assumed all functions of the car were working fine). There were some bits and bobs like stone chips etc, but they said they'll repair all of them before I collect the car.
I've made the pre-payment and the collection date was 6 days later and they were going to handle stone chips, wheel repair and extra Starguard protection meanwhile.
Once I went to Mercedes Bishop's Stratford, I've seen that they did not repair most of the stone chips, when I ask the reason they said they were too deep, however, they were certain that all of them would go away. Anyways, I didn't think that it was a deal-breaker and went for it.
Unfortunately, I've discovered the following problems in the first week of my purchase and send an email to the dealership 4 days after my purchase;
- The start-stop function does not work in all driving modes.
- The window switches for the rear windows on the driver's door were loose, you can't control them and one of them is stuck once you use them.
- Spare key was not working.
When I mention these problems, they were totally ok to repair them in warranty obviously, however then they suggested to handle the issue at my local Mercedes shop, then they said it's connected to a different group and I had to make an appointment myself. When I made the appointment and brought to my car to repair to Mercedes Bromley, they could not find out the problem causing Start-Stop failure and asked my permission to do further investigation, but with a cost!!
I thought the repairs were going to be made in warranty, so I contacted the sales rep at Mercedes Bishop's Stratford and he said his manager did not approve to pay and they have to receive the car from me and repair themselves. As you would imagine, I was chasing to fix the problems in my Approved Use Mercedes for over a month, I did not feel comfortable sending my car to a dealership that did not do their job properly in the first place. So I asked them to talk with Mercedes Bromley and come to an agreement so that Bromley can fix my car. Meanwhile, it has been 5 days that the car was at the service of Mercedes Bromley and I was not given a spare car. Anyways, once again Mercedes Bishop's Stratford manager did not approve to pay the costs to Bromley and I decided to take my car back without any repairs except the 2nd car key (Mercedes Bromley changed the battery free of charge). It has been almost 1 more week now and Mercedes Bishop's Stratford sales rep does not reply to my emails and I really don't want to send my car to their service as I totally lost trust in their company.
So do you think I should send my car to this dealership or should I pay the costs myself at Bromley Mercedes or any other suggestions really?
Many thanks
