APS 30 GPS Antenna Options? Upgraded Antenne Avaliable?

Does anybody know if it is possible to purchase an antenna, which had better reception than the standard gps antenna?

I would like to mount the antenna below the dash on my Mercedes SL (R129) but I notice that it does not receive as many satellites (approx 20% less) on my APS 30 unit as when it is mounted on the dashboard.

If it is not possible to purchase an upgraded GPS antenna, does anybody know where to purchase a smaller antenna perhaps without the metal backing plate?

If you contact a company which specialises in GPS, you'll find that they sell re-radiating antennae. These receive the GPS signal from a favourable position and then re-radiate it within your vehicle so that it can be picked up by a normal antenna.

i have contacted quite a few listed on google asking them this question. From their replies they say they are not sure about the compatability with the becker units.

Do you have the name of a particular shop which may be able to help?
