Hello, I have recently had fitted some 18inch alloys into my Mercedes C-Class (W202 model). Sadly, the people who installed them were utterly incompetent, and when I have a full load of passengers and luggage on board, the wheels scrape in the arches. More often, I can hear them scrape as I pass over speed bumps and other incosistencies in the roads surface. I was wondering if any of you have had merc arches widened somewhere or can recommend someone who can do this job without ruining the car. Thanks,
Michele

Hi,
I would personally change the wheels/tyres before touching the body. Perhaps something could be done to the suspension setup to keep the top of the wheels tucked in.
Just a thought
Regards
Mike

To say the truth, I really (really really) like the alloys; and considering the price I paid I dont really want to change them again. I've been told that widening the arches shouldn't be such a large deal (no pun intended), but apparently its another of those things that one just doesn't do too often to a merc..

Hi,

though this is an old topic, I'll chip in my 2 cents worth...

...one thing you can do is to get the 'boss' of the alloy trimmed, usually there's at least an inch available...these will get the wheels to 'tuck in' more and then get the arches rolled as said above...
