Are all R129 hoods the same?

Hi, can I just ask you experts out there if all R129 hoods are interchangeable?
I have a 1990 300SL & am looking at replacing the hood & have seen one from a later car (1995) complete with frame.
Will it fit? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the door seals changed at some point during production?
Also has anyone changed the hood & frame and if so is this easier than changing just the material? - which I know from the video is a major job.

I have only ever known one hood,, are you changing the frame also or just the hood part

yes I am looking to change the hood & frame - it looks easier to do than just the fabric - what with all the glueing etc.
Have you had any experience in changing the frame? Do the locking lugs have to be adjusted on the new frame?

I have not done that but it has been done ,, do a search on 129 hood and see what comes up

It's a 2-day job to change the canvas - and it takes two-people. I personally wouldn't attempt it. Removing the frame and refitting is also a pain (it's easy to take off but requires adjusting for correct alignment). The seals changed for the window convenience feature (drops when you open the door) so you may have to change it - not cheap from memory.

stats has a good point there, on the 95 car the windows drop but on the 1990 car they do not

I had a quick look and there are other differences as well,, wise I think

to add to this if it helps, I need new hard top seal, and was tempted to buy a hardtop from ebay seller, from car that had only done 47,000 miles, thinking this would be cheaper and easier.....however the car was a '96, and apparently may not have fitted to my '92 - he MB part numbers are different, so I didnt go ahead.
Maybe this suggests another reason why the hood and frame may be different too ??
