Are MB ripping us off - Traffic, Monitoring & Vehicle on 3+years old car

Mercedes Benz need to build more reliable cars that are not overpriced pieces of plastic junk.
They are all about selling dreams for a monthly payment.
Heavily depreciated classic car parts have just gone up steadily over the years.
security theft parts.
digital service booklet.
SCN coding.
they are all about the benjamins and not customer loyalty.

When I first bought my (used) car in 2013 I thought it might be sensible to have it serviced within the franchise to maintain the value and get the benefit of Mobilo... I still have the correspondence on file where I tried to get 12 x months of servicing to cost me no more than the equivalent service costs which was a rather frustrating exercise. Almost the same week my bank introduced a packaged account that included full European breakdown cover for both SWMBO and me in any car at any time and the sums just did not add up. I had one experience of trying to use my Mercedes warranty to get the Aircon fully operable and of course MB wanted to charge me something like an hour's labour to check it...

So sadly, Mobilo got the finger and I took my car to a local garage with a very good reputation who service the car correctly to schedule and can't do enough for me with odds and ends - for example when my arthritic fingers couldn't cope with changing the headlamp bulbs the manager just called over a mechanic who spent 10 - 12 minutes on it and they waved me away when I asked for a bill. In any case their hourly rate is 1/3rd less than MB anyway! If I have any "funny" problem I can talk to the mechanic who's going to do the job before and after they do it and most of them know me by now and they've taken care of it from 66K to 104K (miles) just coming up.

Personal service at a reasonable price is definitely worth a lot!

Be warned, the first time the car starts to steer for you is a little un-nerving . .....

It's un-nerving enough when you take your hands off the wheel when your car parks itself

Just join the AA £150 a year with unlimited recoveries to take you to you merc specialist as the the mobile staff are all ex rac with no mb experience anyway, they just take you back to the Main stealer where you will end up Paying for that free hire car.
MB brentford and Chelsea charge £222+ vat per hour......that’s my alternative

I'm new to Waze, only a couple of weeks in. It's terrific. It warns me about potholes. This morning it advised me that a vehicle was parked on the hard shoulder up ahead. It told me that police activity was reported in one mile. The mercedes offering doesn't interest me, even slightly. And Waze is free.

Used it all over Europe last summer, & it doesn't use much data.

Comand UK replaced my Head unit last month and ran a cable into the centre arm rest so the iphone is directly connected & stowed away. Waze is the icing on my cake as it appears on the touch screen and does the sat nav job perfectly. I'm so glad I didn't pay hundreds more to get built-in sat nav.

Having lost the TomTom Traffic on my Garmin Street Pilot at 3 yrs , I started using TomTom Traffic on my Android phone at £14.99 for the year's unlimited subscription.
It works just like the dedicated TomTom SatNav and for me it's a perfect replacement.

Free Traffic alternatives on my phone apart from Waze are Garmin and Michelin.
Paying MB's price for a continued subscription was a donation too far.
