Hi
My W212 doesn't have any form of high beam assist. My R231 SL does.
The latter's system has cornering lights, full LEDs and switches from dipped beam to full beam and back when there is no car approaching etc. It's not perfect but that's a debate for another day.
However, I had a 2015 W212 (Avantgarde/Sport?) on hire when mine was in for some warranty repairs a couple of years ago and the hired car came with a VERY clever version of High Beam Assist. The only way I can describe it is that it switched to full beam when appropriate but if I then caught up with the car in front it switched off the high beam BUT ONLY the parts which would have dazzled the car in front. It left the full beam on to illuminate the central reservation and left hand kerb/grass bank.
It sort of created a black square around the car in front which was the cleverest thing I have ever seen and I can't recreate the effect with my SL's system. It is definitely something I would pay extra for on my next car if I could.
So my question is does anyone know what this system on the hired car was and how is it different in spec terms to what is on my SL. Ideally, can my SL's high beam assist be set up to play the clever trick the hire car did?
