Hi Damien, my arial is also on the way out on mly350sl. My one is mounted on the nearside front wing and I think I will have to remove the wing to replace it. Will be relacing my wing next year so its not too bad for me.
I could be wrong but I cant see any other way of getting at it.
Some one might clarify this before you attempt anything I have said
Regards
Mike
All,
If it's an electric ariel, you can often get a replacement mast which can be replaced without removing the ariel motor assembly - you just remove the top bolt, wind the old one up and the new one back down. You will probably need to identify the make of the airel though - Maystar/Bosch etc.
If I remember right, when these cars were built, Merc didn't install the radio, this was left to the dealer, so it's unlilkely that the ariel is only accessible by removing the wing, as the dealer would have had to do this to fit it when the car was new! - Doubt the customer would have been thrilled! There will be an easy way to get to it I suspect.
