SLK 230 with AMG body kit yum yum
The radio reception is awful and I looked in the user manual for ariel or antenna but nothing is listed. Somebody told me its in the boot?

Help please, I like radio 2, which is all I can get, but something else would be appreciated:)

Indeed. The R170 was renowned for poor radio reception, which is why the R171 has an external aerial as opposed to one built-in to the rear screen, or so the saleperson who sold my wife her R171 said.

If you ask me I'd say that the new design is just waiting to be pulled off by some "oik".

SLK antenna

SLK radio antenna is not part of the rear screen, nor is it as suggested by the Detali drawing in the boot.

It's part of the rear bumper - and as far as I know not separately removable, or replacable. You might be able to get at the wires though and check that they are all connected as they should be.

The amp is an important part as the cables are 50 ohm coax, if the amp goes down the reception will be poor, an easy way to check is to take out the plug from the amp and just push a single piece of wire into the center pin on the plug, do it while tuned to a weak station, of just hold the blade of a thin screwdriver and touch the center pin, and your body will work as an antenna

check the plug for the antenna on the back of the radio, if its a 90 degree connector look at the centre wire as they break, easy enough to fix yourself but worth checking , Ive done many!!! so its a common problem.

I agree 100% and very common where the radio has been in and out

Ah yes. That's sounds more like it. My memory ain't what it used to be. I knew it was hidden away somewhere and didn't stick up like a normal one - that would be too easy wouldn't it?
