asd warning light

hi guys
i have a 89 cosworth 2.5-16valve
whilst crusing the other day the yellow ASD light came on
what is this light for i have no manuel and merc dealers round here won't give info unless car goes to them

ASD heißt Automatisches Sperr-Differential

ASD, an automatic locking differential

does this mean something is broken then ?
or a sensor or something ?
it is now on constantly, i have not seen it light at all up till recentatly had car 8 months.

a fault code reader is required to identify the problem

so no one has had this problem ever before then ?
nothing i can do at home ?
i would rather do all my own work if something needs replacing then i buy mrec parts were possable and do it myself
anyone know of good place for merc cosworth parts

it does sound like a sensor/actuator has stuck on in the diff lock it might be worth checking the wires havnt corroded or come off or trapped
