Hi,

Finallly, I updated my car to 1998 c180... Thumbs up! What I need to know, when does "ASR OFF" button operates, i.e, when the light is off, or on? Thanks for replies...

p.s. As far as I know, ASR stands for Acceleration Skid Regulator.

The light remaining 'on' is telling you that the system has either been intentionally switched 'off' or that there is a fault in the system (The system then defaults to 'off')

When the system detects any wheel spin (Under acceleration on a wet road for example) the ASR lamp will flash to warn you of the event whilst the vehicle electronics applies brake to the spinning wheel.

If you have snow chains on for instance you would turn it off.

When driving in snow / ice the ASR can cut in so much that you cannot move at all. If you switch it off you can then maintain some forward progress. Just be very carefull you don't go sliding all over the road.
I have switched it off a few times drving up snow/ice covered tracks in Wales. With it on the car just wouldn't move.
