Very interesting, though i thought all AMG's were assembled in the Stuttgart factory (the original AMG factory).

At 1 minute 32 seconds in the video it shows the inside of a 55(?), but I was under the impression that all 55s had aluminium as door garnishings. This one had wooden ones. I reckon it's a mere 500 or a puny 350 in that clip. :lol:

Might it not have been specified at extra cost by the lucky purchaser?

The AMG as any other 230 came with trim of the customers choice.

You could have, burr walnut,chestnut,ash, aluminum linea, or AMG aluminum. if that was not enough you could have a designo special

I've seen exactly the same techniques used to assemble the Nissan Micra and Primera during my 6 years as a Trim and Chassis Engineer at the Sunderland plant, so it beats me why we pay so much for perceived superior build quality when we buy an MB.

they may be put togeather in the same way but if merc put in better quality parts then you will still get a better quality car

I have my SL and we also have a Micra which was built at Sunderland. It's strange, but I think I know which one I would rather ride in and I know which was built to a much better standard.
