I purchased a new ‘C’ 180 Kompressor SE with ASSYST : 14 months ago [ie. First registered Sept. 1st 2006] and as I cover a relatively low mileage of 5000 to 6000 miles a year I expected to be free of servicing for at least two years.
A month ago the ASSYST INDICATION showed well over 10,000 miles to a service and a day or two later in early October the computer screen stated ‘A’ service due in 29 days. My service booklet states ‘The ASSYST system takes into account items requiring servicing based on time elapsed and distance covered’
I arranged a service with my local dealer and queried the low mileage and short time as I expected it to go for 2 years. He checked the records and said that cars registered from mid November that year could need servicing in 12 months but that this should not include my vehicle as it was purchased before then.
After the service the service report included a copy of Service Sheet A203046271946/A114ML106491 about using Oils of the higher specification 229.5 which states that When using this oil the service interval is extended by a multiplication factor of 1.3 but the correct oil specification MUST be programmed into the vehicle.
Is there any way one can check what has been set in the vehicle as all I can find is “Next service ‘B’ due in 10,000 miles” not the 16,000 the new car had when I bought it. Any comments or information on this topic would be much appreciated. Grev.
