Have always been a great believer in using the best oil possible, which was borne out in my recently part exchanged Volvo (B200E) 740 that had 270k on the clock & semi synth oil changed regularly at 5k intervals.
Trouble was that engine was outlasting the rest of the car that was falling to pieces with excessive wear all around it!
Have been told that changing from full synth to semi would'nt make a great deal of difference (except in the wallet), and that seals in the engine block would or may start to leak after a time, particularly as engine is now approaching the 200,000 threshold!
So what do you experts have to say on this dilemma?
All comments gratefully recieved.

Keith.
