My wife's SLK is now 81/2 years old and only has 32K miles on the clock. We've had the car 7 years and in that time it hasn't had an ATF change. Should ATF be changed on a time or mileage basis? It seems to change gear fine although first thing in the morning when it's cold the upchanges seem to be a bit slower. It's difficult to remember whether it's always been like this or if it's got progressively worse.

Leave the car for a few more thousand miles.

Dont worry over the changes when cold,, the car is made to hang onto the lower gears until the CAT has warmed up
