I want to do an oil change on mine and will need this, but can't find it on their site using the part number - do you have a link to the item?

if you have the 722.6 box, then make one out of curtain wire, run box till warm 80c, leave engine running, insert curtain wire until it hits the bottom, withdraw and read the depth of the oil, needs to be between 55 and 64mm deep

I've posted this photo before but can't find it so here it is again it shows my home made dipstick cost coppers or less if you don't mind losing your cutains in one room ;) I cant understand why anyone would want to waste £20-30 on something thats going to be used every third blue harvest moon at best

auto box saga

the problems were eventually sorted by a specialist who told me that in over 30 years on gearboxes he had never had so much trouble. The first attempt resulted in a new winter/summer selector switch, a seal where the loom exits the gearbox and a replacement ecu which had failed due to oil passing up the loom by capilliary attraction or magnetic field or some other means.
However the saga continued a couple of weeks later when gearchanges became more random. this time it was diagnosed as a faulty speed sensor and performance returned to normal after I parted with more cash.

The ECU always washes out and does not need to be replaced

thanks malcolm I thought the same but the gearbox specialist told me that he had tried this and was not successful so I settled for a second hand unit rather than pay £700 for a new unit.
