Hi All,

I have just bought a 208 CLK conv which is great but it has the std audio 10 cassette player and a CD changer but I am getting a "No CD 1-6" error. (yes there are disks in!)

I have tried removing the 2 cables attached to the changer and re plugging in.

Any help appreciated!

Thks

Yes - Ithink so. It appears to only fit one way around.

When I unplugged the changer the error message changed to "No CD" so the head unit does appear to know the changer is there.....

If you can hear the changer take a disc and try it, then the pick up could be down, if the changer does not even take a disc out of the cassette, the a micro switch is stuck or out of line

Have just read another post where 2 guys fixed the same error - in both cases it was the disks not being picked out correctly - one due to dirty stopping the casette locating and another due to lack of lubrication on arm. I am going to dismantly and have a look!

Will post results as there are lots of posts online with this same error...

Hi Rufus

I seem to be haviing the exact problem, The magazine is in correctly and i can hear and see the machine is trying one by oneto pick a cd but the magazine is not releasing them. Unpluged the wires at the back and still not working.
Hoping you will have a resolution.

Thanks

OK Fixed - but not a very specific solution I'm afraid.

I unbolted the changer bracket from car and then removed the bracket.

I then removed the top of the changer which involved removing all the screws visible on the top, side and back of the changer, including those that attach the piece that the wires connect into. It was then a case of wiggling the top free.

Laying the changer flat I could then see what was going on when the magazine was inserted - absoutely nothing! There is an arm that should swing down and pull out each of the CD holders in turn and this was stuck. I wiggled this arm using an insulated screw driver and then reinserted magazine and hey presto it worked.

There is another post in this forum where 2 people have fixed the same error message. In one it was fixed by lubricating the pick up arm and mechanism and in the other by removing grit that was preventing the magazine going all the way down into the changer. http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=21717&highlight=%221-6%22

Good luck to others with the same problem.

Hi Rufus

I have tried the above and no joy :(. I have taken off all the covers and like your problem can see that no cd is being picked up. There is a silver arm type mechanism on the top which looks really stiff- is this what needs moving? Please advise?
Many THanks

Yes that sould like it. When it is not operating the arm is up near the "top" of the changer (I call the top the face with the opening where you enter the magazine).

I just repeatedly jiggled the arm and mechanism and pushed in and ejected the magazine until it worked.

Once it was working, I kept pushing in the ejecting the magazine so the arm got lots of "practise" before reassembling.

I am no expert so do this at your own risk! Good luck.

Are you using genuine CD's (bought) or burnt ones made at home? That can sometimes cause the fault.

I have occassionally had this fault on my W202.
Unplugging the power and fibre cable usually sorted it out.

Try at both ends (changer and head unit end).

audio 10 cd changer

Hi, Just a note to say that my changer also showed no discs 1-6. Got my partner to remove casing as suggested, simple job even for a man!!! lubricated the slides, now working a treat. Thankyou all for your input.

Hi, same problem here. I've tried everything, including dismantling & re greasing, but still no joy. Now getting board with not having a working CD changer.

CLK W208 – I think the CD changer is a MC3010

Other than going to a dealership any ideas where else to buy a new one…. Or is that a really stupid question.

Thanks,

Miles.

They always come up on Ebay or you could ask Becker to fix it

Thanks Malcolm. Looked on Ebay, there seem to be a lot of very similer CD changers but not convinced I'll get the right one.

Sorry, I don't know Becker. Any contact details please.

Thanks,

Miles.
