Audio 15 Bluetooth issue

Hey all!
i’m a recent owner of a vito tourer and having what seems like a real basic issue of setting up a Bluetooth device.
From what I can see Bluetooth has been activated but when i access the BT audio screen after pressing ‘media’ i get a message saying ‘External device unavailable’

i then assume that I need to search for and connect a device so go to the Bluetooth Audio Device List and then choose ‘update’ but rather than search for active devices it seems to just be stuck on this ‘update’ screen.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what I could be doing wrong??

Sadly not. I’ve not had a chance to take it to Merc for answers.

Dam. Hoped you had better luck. I’m contemplating changing the unit for a aftermarket system now.

Have you cleared the old phones out of the list?
Have you a copy of the manual? I've attached below. Bluetooth is page 21.

Yeah, tried that.
Oddly, when I get to this screen, pressing the nob doesn’t deactivate/uncheck the box either

Yup exactly same as mine.

So I swapped mine out for a few months decided that I didn’t like the aftermarket one and swapped back to the audio 15. I didn’t plug everything back in (no nav no usb or aux) and I have Bluetooth for a while. I found my nav module and reinstalled that and usb and then lost the Bluetooth with the same error message external device unavailable. Any help yet?
