Chaps,
Does anyone know how to disconnect the cables from an Audio 20 (radio/cd player) for a 53 plate e-class, W211?
I have pulled out the unit itself, but don't know how to disconnect them from the car!
I believe my cables are faulty because my unit keeps muting out by itself. I replaced it with a different unit and got the exact same result.
Can someone help?

I do not think that I have this info, and I cannot see the cables being at fault. I will try and check to see if just the mute wire can be removed

Dear Malcolm,
Please be aware that the unit displays 'MUTED' as apossed to 'MUTE'. This is the message shown when the unit is taking an incoming call, or if the unit overheats (which is not the case because the unit is MUTED first thing in the morning as well).
Can you advise on how i can remove / disable this particular 'MUTED' wire?
Many thanks,
Alex

I hope that I find something before I go away for two weeks.

I see that there is one update where the Audio gateway needs to be version 43/03 on STAR 04/04

After a huge search the audio gateway has everything passing through it, that is everything from the phone to all other signals including the MOST bus ,,if anything this is like to be the source of your agro

to remove the plug you have to press two levers (two horizontal bars one longer that the other) together and lift
this will remove the plug which is held in by the latch which is lifted to remove the plug
do not use force
