The old man's Audio 20 (2003 E220cdi W211) goes quiet from time to time. Everything looks fine but there's no sound. Switch off and on etc has no effect but if the car is parked for 30 mins or so it will be fine again.

Its a 2003 unit so I guess it has the AGW so my assumption is that the AGW has nodded off. After 30 mins the network shuts down so on restart it's fine again.
So,
a - am I way off here?
and
b - what can be done about it?

cheers
JB.

Hello, you may have a speaker wire shorting to earth. This causes sound loss. Possibly in the door connection, when you get out and move the door it moves it and is ok for a while!! try opening and closing doors and see if it comes back on.

Another place i have seen this is on the passenger footwell kick pannel, when the sound goes off push it with your foot and see if it comes back.

Other than that a unit could be at fault.
