I recently bought a 2017 GLC 350e with the Audio 20 infotainment system. As I understand, you should be able to connect to the internet using a mobile phone sharing its connection over Bluetooth. Following the instructions, I connected to my phone (iPhone Xs, iOS 13.5.1, internet sharing/personal hotspot activated). The system says paring and configuring connection is successful. When trying to access internet services (internet radio, webpages, etc.) in the infotainment system, the tethering symbol on my iPhone shows up briefly. After 5-10 seconds, a useless error message appears on the media screen: «Unable to establish an Internet connection. Please check the date and time settings in the vehicle menu.»

Time and date settings seems fine. As far as I can see, no settings in the date and time menu should affect the internet connection. I have tested the shared internet over Bluetooth on other devices, and it worked fine.

I have tried de-authorizing and reconnecting the phone several times, and I did a reset on the media system with no effect.

Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

I wouldn’t worry, if you do manage to connect, the websites and internet are extremely slow on the car and are unusable. Much better to use Bluetooth Audio from your phone.
